Artist STATEMENT Combining his love for the Southern Jersey landscape and coastlines, G. Matthew Dixon focuses his attention on pastels simply because he feels that "...one needs to step back and view the works from a distance to see the whole picture come together. We are becoming nearsighted as we focus on the smallest, most insignificant thing in front of us, without looking at the big picture landscape on the horizon. I am trying to bring focus back to the distance and the "bigger picture" by painting natural images of things that are best viewed from a distance. Not just the tiny screens in our hands."
